Swansea and Neath CAMRA

The Swansea Bay Beer Festival - 2010.

Thursday 26th August to Saturday 28th August 2010

Back by popular demand, once again we are running the festival in the magnificent surroundings of the Brangwyn Hall, Swansea, SA1 4PE (adjacent to The Guildhall). There will be over 100 real ales plus a wide selection of ciders and perries plus good food and the Camra stall.

Opening times:
Thursday 26th - 5pm to 11pm
Friday 27th and Saturday 28th - Noon to 11pm

Admission: £5 for non-camra members, £3 for camra members
Admission includes glass and programme. (Tokens for beer to be purchased separately at the festival).
No advance tickets, all tickets to be purchased at the Brangwyn during opening times.

Children only allowed in the George Hall and food area until 8pm each day.
No children allowed in the main hall (The Brangwyn) at any time.

Bands:
Thursday 9pm - The VIP`S
Friday 9pm - Ted Crooks Blues Highway
Saturday 3-5pm - Alltud
Saturday 7.30pm - Whitefern Mountain Spring Band.

Branch News

Pubs of the Year 2010

Congratulations to The Potters Wheel, 85-86 The Kingsway, Swansea, for being awarded the CAMRA 2010 Pub of the Year for Swansea.

And also to the The Ancient Briton Hotel, Penycae, Swansea. which for the second year running took the 2010 CAMRA honours for the Neath & Port Talbot area.

Forthcoming Events

Here are some new dates for your diaries, over the coming months:

Mon 2nd August: Beer Festival Planning Meeting. Which will be in The Potters Wheel, 85-86 The Kingsway, Swansea. at 8pm.
Mon 19th August: The next Neath Sub-branch Meeting. Please contact Wynford Day (Email below), for more details.
Mon 20th Sept: Our next Swansea Branch Meeting is in The Village Inn, 5-6 The Precinct, Killay, Swansea SA2 7BA. at 8pm.

Branch Trips and Events:

Sat 18th Sept: Visit to the Bryncelyn Brewery, Ystalyfera. Obviously we will then call into the nearby Wern Fawr Inn to try the breweries products!
After this we will visit the The Ancient Briton Hotel, Penycae, to join in their festival. Please contact our event officers (Email below or ring Alan on 0776 236272), if you would like to join in.
Sat 25th Sept: Gower Beer Survey Trip. Exactly which of the many Gower pubs we will vist will be decided nearer the time. There will be a £5 charge for the trip, but a free beer will be included! Sat 9th Oct: Visit to the Breconshire Brewery. Probably with a visit on the way back to the Red Lion, Penderyn. There will be a £5 charge for the trip. Please contact our event officers (Email below or ring Alan on 0776 236272), if you would like to join in.
Oct (Date TBA): Visit to the Gwaun Valley Brewery. This trip is being run by the Neath sub-branch, but all Camra members are welcome. Please contact Wynford Day of the Neath branch (Email below), if you would like to join in.

Thurs 16th to Sat 18th Sept: The Owain Glyndwr Beer Festival Held in the The Ancient Briton Hotel, Penycae, Swansea. A popular festival & well worth a visit.
